Most Britons reveal all financial details to partners in first year, study finds

More than three-quarters of Britons reveal all about their finances within the first year of being in a relationship, research has found.

Some 77% of people share all their money secrets with their partner within the first 12 months of a relationship, according to a survey for Fidor Bank, a digital-only challenger bank.

The six-month stage is the time when Britons are most likely to open up fully about their financial situation with their partner, the research suggests.

But one in six (15%) people surveyed never tell all about their finances.

Despite many people sharing everything there is to know about their finances, only 51% of people surveyed said they have a joint savings account with their partner.

Women were more likely to lie about their finances than men, with one in four (25%) women admitting telling fibs about money, compared with one in five (20%) men.

More than 2,000 people from across the UK who said they are in a "serious relationship" took part in the research.
