Petra Eccclestone Stunt to sell Los Angeles' biggest home

The daughter of Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone, Petra (now known as Petra Stunt), is selling her Los Angeles mansion - probably the biggest private homes in the city - for £162 million.

The Manor, built by late television producer Aaron Spelling, stretches to a gigantic 56,500 square feet. Set in five acres, it is designed to look like a French chateau and has has fourteen bedroom suites (with 27 bathrooms) plus a service wing.

The master suite alone, at 7,000 square feet, is much bigger than most houses, and has its own kitchen, living room and a two-level walk-in wardrobe connected by a pair of staircases.

"The Manor is amongst the most exceptional properties in the United States. Its elegance and grandeur put the property in a category of luxury all on its own," say agents Hilton & Hyland.

"The magnificent home is perched atop approximately five acres of exquisitely landscaped land in prestigious Holmby Hills. It is the largest and grandest private residence in Los Angeles."

Petra, 27, bought the place five years ago for just £69 million in cash and has since remodelled the house to create a more contemporary feel. The enormous hall, for example, has a 30-foot ceiling, black and white striped marble floor, an elaborate double staircase and enormous chandelier.

She also had a large aquarium installed in the study, and gave the basement level a nightclub makeover.

The 100-odd rooms include a two-lane bowling alley, a wine cellar and tasting room, a catering kitchen, a gym and a spa and beauty salon with massage and tanning rooms.

Outside, there are formal gardens containing a swimming pool and tennis court, as well as a citrus orchard and koi carp pond. There's covered parking for 16 cars, as well as a circular motor court with a fountain and space to park 100 more.

Even the service wing has five staff bedrooms and two butler's suites.

But the house, agent Rick Hilton tells the Wall Street Journal, has become surplus to requirements. Petra and her husband, billionaire investor James Stunt, have two small children who go to school in London and spend most of their time at their $45 million Chelsea home.
