Man charged with kidnap over play park incident

A man has been charged with kidnap after a nine-year-old girl was allegedly grabbed from a play park and dragged towards a wooded area.

The girl managed to break free and was unharmed during the incident in Norwich on Friday.

Paul Barton, 32, of no fixed abode, is due to appear before Norwich magistrates on Tuesday to face a charge of kidnap.

The alleged incident happened in Pointers Field, off George Pope Road, where the girl had been using play equipment at the park just before 4.30pm.
