A man has been arrested after a nine-year-old girl was grabbed and dragged into a wooded area.

Norfolk Police said a man tried to abduct the girl while she was playing in Pointers Field, off George Pope Road in Norwich, around 4.30pm on Friday.

The girl, who was not injured, managed to break free.

Officers arrested a man in his 30s from the Norwich area and took him to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

They have urged anyone with information to contact the force on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
