Giraffe gets friendly with news reporter

One giraffe got a little too close for comfort with a reporter who was doing a stand-up interview in the middle of a zoo in America recently.

Ashley Jacobs, of CBS-8 in San Diego, California got quite a licking from the friendly nine-month-old giraffe.

She was doing a report at the San Diego Zoo Tuesday when the animal made his way over to her and started showing his affection.

Her colleagues back in the studio couldn't stop laughing at the situation and joked around with the reporter as she was trying to distract the giraffe.

The giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest of all land-living animal species, and the largest ruminant. The giraffe's scientific name, which is similar to its antiquated English name of camelopard, refers to its irregular patches of coloir on a light background, which bear a token resemblance to a leopard's spots. The tallest male recorded stood almost 6 metres (20 ft).
