Five-year-old's death at water park prompts further appeal from police

Detectives investigating the death of a five-year-old at a water park have re-appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Charlie Dunn died in hospital after being pulled from a lake at Bosworth Water Park in Leicestershire, on July 23.

The youngster, believed to have been visiting the park with his mother and stepfather, is reported to have been found by an 11-year-old boy searching for a pair of goggles.

Police said more than 500 vehicles passed through the barriers at the entrance on the day of Charlie's death, but that "only a very small number of people" have come forward with information.

Detective Sergeant Nikki McLatchie, who is working on the investigation, said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who saw Charlie at the park. Did you see him in the water? Did you see him playing? You may only have a small recollection but it could really help with our investigation.

"We know Charlie was carried out of the water by other park users. Did you see him in the water prior to this?

"If you took any footage from the area around the Blue Lagoon that afternoon please get in touch with us. It could really help us piece together what happened."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 440 of July 23.
