Working in retirement isn't all shelf stacking and bag packing. There are plenty of stars who are treading the boards and hitting the red carpet on a regular basis in their 60s, 70s, 80s, and even their 90s.

We celebrate ten celebrities who make working in retirement look good.

Meryl Streep (67)
Her incredible career has seen her nominated for an Oscar 19 times - and win it three times, and she's far from finished just yet. The past five years have seen her in The Iron Lady, Into the Woods, Suffragette and Florence Foster Jenkins - among a host of others. She is also set to be in Mary Poppins in 2018 - at the age of 69.

Sylvester Stallone (70)
It's 40 years since Rocky, and Stallone was back again last year in the same role - in Creed. Of course he has gone from playing the young buck to the gnarled old hand, but still performs impressively well as an action hero in his seventh decade.

Michael Douglas (71)
It doesn't feel like 32 years since Romancing the Stone, and Michael Douglas doesn't show many signs of slowing down. He carries off the baddie roles with ease, but what makes him really impressive is that he is still landing romantic lead roles - albeit leads with a twist - such as the groom-to-be in Last Vegas and Liberace in Behind the Candelabra.

Helen Mirren (71)
Dame Helen Mirren has been on our screens since the 1960s, and is hardly off it nowadays. She is still revered both for her beauty and her acting prowess, and excels in roles playing position of authority - both in The Queen - ten years ago, and the likes of Eye in the Sky last year. She is set to appear in Fast 8 next year, at the age of 72.

Robert De Niro (73)
You'd have been forgiven for thinking 40 years ago that De Niro was going to play gangsters for the rest of his life, but he has taken on an incredible range of performances over the years. They have included everything from the violent Jake La Motta in Raging Bull to the fragile Leonard Lowe in Awakenings, the menacing Jack Byrnes in Meet the Parents, the cross-dressing pirate Captain Shakespeare in Stardust, The Pope in Heist and the title character of Dirty Grandpa.

Harrison Ford (74)
The very first Star Wars film came out 39 years ago, when he was every inch the young action hero. It's impressive that he is still playing a twist on that role today - including a comeback as Han Solo Himself. The 74-year-old isn't planning to stop the action any time soon, and is expected to appear in Indiana Jones 5 in 2019 - when he will be 77.

Morgan Freeman (79)
He's a man whose famous voice just gets better with age, and he remains in huge demand. In the last three years alone he has been in films as diverse as Now You See Me, Last Vegas, The Lego Movie, Lucy, Ted 2 and London Has Fallen.

Robert Redford (80)
He is now known as much for his directing, producing and film festival hosting as for his acting, but he's no slouch in that department either. His voice is currently in cinemas as Meecham in Pete's Dragon, and over the past few years he has appeared in films as diverse as A Walk in the Woods, Captain America: Winter Soldier and the newsroom drama Truth.

Clint Eastwood (86)
Eastwood made a seamless transition from cowboy to romantic lead and then film director. He still mixes it up, working as an actor, director and producer. It's hard to imagine that he was 74 when he made Million Dollar Baby, and 84 when he directed American Sniper.

Dick Van Dyke (90)
Dick Van Dyke was an internet sensation when a video of him singing in a Diner went viral this summer. However, he has been on the screen regularly in his 80s, and now his 90s. Perhaps his most high-profile role in recent years was as Cecil in Night of the Museum. It was a role he went on to reprise for the sequels - most recently at the age of 88.
