Passenger soothes fellow flyer's crying baby, photo goes viral

A photograph of a passenger soothing a fellow traveller's crying baby as the pregnant mum slept during a flight from Georgia has gone viral.

The picture shows the man walking down the aisle with the baby resting on his shoulder after he offered to help the lady who was pregnant and alone on the Atlanta-bound flight.

Sharing the kind act on Facebook, GAFollowers wrote: "On a flight back to Georgia, this man, who was a stranger to this woman, offered to help her because she was pregnant and alone on the flight and her son was upset and fussy.

"He told her that he was a DAD, and wanted to help her so she could rest. He walked the aisle most of the flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta comforting this woman's son as if he was his own."

Passenger Angela Byrd told the Georgia news page: "I was in tears...not because he was white and she was black...but because it showed me today that there are still GOOD people out there in a world full of turmoil."

The post has been shared over 8,000 times, with Facebook users congratulating the man for his kindness.

One user said: "Love this. So selfless. So many people just want to relax on a flight and tune out. This man chose to put his needs aside and kindly take care of a stranger. Oh to think what the world would be like if we all made that our goal. One act of kindness a day. What a blessing he was to this Mom and her child!"

Another wrote: "A military man did this for my mother on a long flight from Germany to the states when I was one! There are still great people out there, one person can make an impact."
