New neighbours top home-movers' list of worries

People worry about nightmare neighbours when they move house, and whether their pets will settle into a new area, says a report.

Research by the Royal Mail found that new neighbours were the main fear, followed by concerns that people would not like their new house.

One in four of the 1,900 home-movers questioned were worried about mail going to a previous address, while other concerns included noisy traffic and crime.

The poll found that 9% worried their pets would not settle down, compared to 8% who voiced concern about their children.

Jim Conning, of Royal Mail, said: "Moving home is a stressful time so adding a new area into the mix can be very daunting.

"There are so many tasks to think about that fears can multiply quickly. Your neighbours and the area in which you live play a vital role in making you feel comfortable and happy in your new surroundings, so it is important that they feel right."
