Drunk driver jailed after 130mph chase through Manchester
A driver from Greater Manchester has been jailed for 12 months after leading police on a 16-mile chase and reaching speeds up to 130mph.
Callum Dorrian, 26-year-old from Ordsall, Greater Manchester, was pursued by police for 16 minutes after the chase began at 11:45pm on 16th June.
Footage captured from the police car showed the driver jumping multiple red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving into the police cars in an attempt to flee the law.
The chase came to an end when Dorrian smashed through a primary school's gates and was then cornered by police when trying to escape the scene on foot.
At points the driver reached speeds of up to 130mph in his Volkswagen Golf GTD, with the chase spanning the M66 motorway and the towns of Bury, Prestwich and Radcliffe.
When caught, it was revealed that Dorrian was two-and-a-half times over the legal alcohol limit following a breathalyser test and he was arrested.
The driver, who had also served time in the past for another alcohol fuelled incident, for which he was jailed for 20 months, pleaded guilty to dangerous and drink driving when he appeared at Bolton Crown Court.
Judge Richard Gioserano said: "Here you are again drinking far too much to drive, but driving anyway. The danger you posed to others that night is obvious and substantial.
"It is only a matter of pure chance that no one was hurt."
Dorrian was also banned from driving for two-and-a-half years, before then having to take an extended retest.
