Vet spends 12 hours rescuing elk with head stuck in tyre

An elk with its head caught in a tyre swing isn't a normal morning sight - but that's what vet Debra Butler saw at 8 o'clock in the morning.

Her speciality sees her dealing mostly with small animals, but Butler spent 12 hours over the weekend trying to set the elk free.

Friends and neighbours attempted to help but the poor animal was most responsive to her. Very

carefully Butler was able to free the large animal and says he's been back at least three times since, looking for a girlfriend...
