See the trailer for the Amanda Knox documentary
Amanda Knox gazes directly at the camera and states "either I'm a psychopath in sheep's clothing or I am you" in a new documentary on the Mereditch Kercher murder trial.
Netflix has released a trailer from the film, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday.
The US student was convicted and imprisoned with Raffaele Sollecito for the 2007 murder of Meredith, but after appeals and retrials they were acquitted last year by Italy's highest court.
In the clip, Amanda is asked "Did you kill Meredith Kercher?" and she replies "no" before giving the same reply to two further questions: "Were you there that night?" and "Do you know anything you have not told police?"
Amanda, now 29, says that anyone could have been in her shoes. Looking at the camera, she states: "That's everyone's nightmare. Either I'm a psychopath in sheep's clothing or I am you."
She said of 21-year-old British student Meredith: "We weren't best friends but I was so shocked by what happened to her. Suddenly I found myself tossed into this dark place."
Breaking down in tears, she states: "I was so scared. I don't know what else I can say. Before Italy I had a happy life. It was very important to get out of my comfort zone and see if that made me turn into an adult."
But after the events in Italy "the whole world knew who I had ever had sex with. I felt like a child again and I know I was a kid".
Directed by Rod Blackhurst and Brian McGinn, the documentary also features interviews with Amanda's former co-defendant and ex-boyfriend Sollecito and Italian prosecutor Giuliano Mignini.
Entitled Amanda Knox, the documentary launches worldwide on September 30.
