Family 'kicked out of Butlin's after girl was sick on sheets'

A mother from Hull claims her family were asked to leave a Butlin's holiday park after her daughter got sick and threw up on the bed sheets.

Catherine McDonnell, 27, says they were kicked out of Butlin's Skegness after her daughter Elisabeth, three, was sick after a very busy day at the holiday resort.

The disgruntled mum is livid after her £1,500 holiday was cut short when the family was evicted from their apartment.

She says Elisabeth was "a little bit sick" on a bed sheet and claims she was locked out of her room at the resort after she rang staff to see if she could have a new bed sheet for the three-year-old.

Mum-of-one Catherine, who was on holiday with her husband Francis, had been enjoying their week-long getaway until Elisabeth came down with a temperature and was sick. But soon after telling staff, Catherine was given an ultimatum of staying in their apartment for 48 hours in quarantine while they were brought food - or leave the site completely.

In a letter to the family, Butlin's said they were asked to leave as their daughter had a "contagious disease".

Mrs McDonnell told the Daily Mail: "It's just absolutely ludicrous - I still can't believe it.

"The holiday itself was great, the food was fine, the entertainment was really good - but we're kicking up a fuss because we were forced to leave in such a ridiculous way."

Catherine says she offered to take her daughter to a walk-in centre to prove that she wasn't ill but the holiday resort refused.

"They made this decision on the basis of a phone call from me asking for some clean sheets," she said.

After Butlin's offered a refund, the family refused and said that they "would just like an apology".
