The mother, Nadine, is first seen in footage taken by a zoo visitor lying on her side.

Chester Zoo reports after she attempts to get more comfortable, Nadine gets up to find a better spot for the labor.

After a total of about 40 minutes, Nadine gives birth to a baby zebra who adorably attempts to take its first steps.

The zoo reports this is the second endangered Grevy zebra born within six days.

According to the zoo's website the first foal was born in the early hours on 15 August, it's name is yet to be revealed to the public.

It's understood that there are as few as 1,900 Grevy zebras left in the wild even though they are the largest of the three zebra species.
