It is believed they got into trouble as they made their ascent towards the 14,649 ft peak.

A search party went looking for the climbers on Wednesday, a day after they started their climb, and the bodies of the two women were found in a gully in the evening.

The body of the German man was found on Thursday morning.

According to the Telegraph, a rescue official said: "The group was carried away by an avalanche of seracs, or large blocks of ice."

The Daily Star reports that the British woman is yet to be formally identified but is thought to have come from a Polish background.
