Stunning 1951 Hudson Hornet Convertible could fetch $180k at auction

When you think of American car culture of the '50s, few cars better represent that stereotypical image than the Hudson Hornet. Now a 1951 convertible model is going under the hammer with no reserve and a high estimate of $180,000.

Hudson was one of the first Detroit automakers to release a new car after World War II. The Hornet's unique 'step-down' chassis made it stand out from the pack; the foot wells were recessed below the side chassis rails, so passengers would 'step down' into the car.
