The script book of the smash-hit Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play hit UK stores just last week, sending book sales into orbit immediately.

But that's not the only part of the wizarding franchise to be raking in the cash.

Tickets for the stage play, which debuted in London's West End in June, were re-released on 4 August and immediately snapped up by thousands of keen Harry Potter fans.

However those who didn't get the chance to buy tickets are no facing online resale prices of more than £8,000.

The play focuses on the lives of the popular wizards years after their time at Hogwarts and is run in two parts, meaning that those wanting to experience the whole thing will need to buy two individual tickets.

So, how much did they cost first time around? The face value of the tickets is £70 each, so those buying a full set will be forking out £140.

According to the Mail Online tickets for a performance in March 2017 have been found on resale site Viagogo for a staggering £8,377 while on StubHub you could be looking at paying as much as £11,947.

Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, the shows producers are very much against the resale of tickets and told the Standard: "The secondary-ticket market is an industry-wide plague, and one which we as producers take very seriously.

"Our priority is to protect all our customers and are doing all we can do combat this issue.

"From the outset accessible pricing has been of paramount importance to us."

They added that plenty of people have already been refused entry to the play having bought tickets through a resale site.

Despite the news that people have not been allowed in to the show, the resale market still seems to be booming.

A quick search on StubHub reveals that there are almost 450 tickets on sale - both in pairs or individually.

Head to Viagogo and you can see that tickets for a performance this Saturday are currently on sale for £880 for a pair.

Wait until October and you could be paying £1,320 for a ticket to the two performances on the first Sunday of the month.

Did you miss out in the official sale but still want to get your fix of the wizarding world? Those feeling lucky can have a go at getting their hands on some of the prized tickets each Friday.

Tickets are released at 1pm for the following week and cost just £20. The play is being performed at the Palace Theatre on London's iconic Shaftesbury Avenue, more information can be found on the official website: harrypottertheplay.com.
