Restaurant roof garden wall collapses into Glasgow street

A block of flats and a pub were evacuated in Glasgow when a brick wall from a restaurant roof garden collapsed on Saturday.

The wall reportedly fell 20ft onto Benalder Street in Partick but no-one was injured.

According to the BBC, the restaurant was closed at the time of the incident at 12pm.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews were sent to the scene and removed the wall from the street.

Group manager Brian Winter told the Evening Times: "Our priority was to ensure the safety of the public so we carried out an evacuation and then conducted a thorough search.

"All persons were accounted.

"The wall was right above the restaurant, surrounding its roof garden, and a part of that wall fell around 20 feet onto the pavement below."
