Female farmers steal the show on Countryfile but Anita Rani's matchmaking falls flat with viewers

It was an island life special on Countryfile on Sunday that saw the presenters flitting between kelp farms on Northern Irish island Rathlin to a tropical fruit one on Anglesey.

Of the 6,000 islands that make up the British Isles, presenter Anita Rani had chosen to make the Scottish Inner Hebrides island of Kerrera her home for the episode, meeting postmaster Gill Vollum and chatting to city couple Aideen Gallagher and Martin Shields - who upped sticks to open the island's only tea room.

There are only 48 people on the whole island - and one of those she met was postie Gill's best friend, shepherd Sheila McGregor, who she helped herd her sheep.

However, she was criticised by viewers for opening her conversation with the two ladies by asking about their husbands.

However, it didn't put viewers off wanting to move to the featured islands.

Being a compilation show, there were plenty of weird and wonderful things going on that drew viewers' attention.

John Craven's trip to a kelp farm was even more divisive among fans.

Each to their own, Countryfile fans!
