Will £61 million lottery winner's son get his share?

The estranged son of Friday's £61 million Euromillions winner Sonia Davies says he doesn't know yet whether he'll be getting a share.

Sonia Davies, 53, was yesterday revealed as the jackpot winner, and has said she plans to share her winnings with her partner Keith Reynolds, 55, daughters Stephanie, 23, and Courtney, 19, and Stephanie's boyfriend Steve Powell, 30. Each could get a little over £12 million.

However, Sonia's son, 24-year-old Spencer Pugh, says that when Sonia rang him on Sunday to tell him about her win, she didn't say whether he would be getting a share.

"She just told me not to tell anyone," he tells the Sun. "We spoke on the phone but before that I hadn't seen her in person for, well, a while. So we haven't spoken about any of that."

Spencer was raised by his father Chris after he and Sonia split up, whereas his sisters Stephanie and Courtney went to live with Sonia. Spencer works at a food processing plant.

Sonia yesterday said she felt like the 'luckiest woman alive' after winning the jackpot immediately after getting the all-clear for after surgery for a tumour on her parathyroid gland. And the family hasn't had much time to decide what to do with their winnings.

But lottery wins can often drive a wedge through families.

Earlier this year, Gillian Bayford, who won £148 million on the Euromillions lottery in 2012, recently claimed that the win had destroyed her family.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Gillian said that despite the fact that she'd given her parents and brother a whopping £20 million between them, they were no longer speaking to her as they didn't think it was enough.

In the US, lottery wins have several times led to murder attempts from greedy family members. Jeffrey Dampier, for example, won $20 million in the Illinois lottery and showered his family with cash and gifts; but was later murdered by his sister-in-law and her boyfriend.

And in 2012, Urooj Khan died of cyanide poisoning after winning $1 million.
