Game Of Thrones' Sophie Turner goes platinum blonde: what does this mean for Sansa?

Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner has ditched her fiery red locks for a look more reminiscent of Daenerys Targaryen.

The 20-year-old debuted her new platinum hair on her Instagram page, with the caption, "I did a thing..."

Her new look has sent fans into a spin wondering if this means the end of her character Sansa Stark.

Kit Harington was famously contractually forbidden from chopping off his rugged hair while playing Jon Snow.

A quick trim after the end of series five had fans convinced that it meant Jon had definitely died at the hands of the Night's Watch - although he was, of course, resurrected by Carice Van Houten's Melisandre.

So does this mean Sansa is also meeting her end? Not necessarily.

Her character has dyed her famous red hair before on the show, going raven-haired to pass as Petyr Baelish's (Aidan Gillen) daughter Alayne Stone.

But it could also simply be a new look before filming begins. Shooting for the seventh series has been pushed back until weather conditions are gloomier, so she still has a few months to dye it back.

The cast and crew are set to return to Iceland for filming for the forthcoming series, a location that has not primarily been used since Jon Snow was north of the Wall with the wildlings, as well as Spain and Northern Ireland.

The seventh series will air in summer 2017.
