Hawaii's spectacular 'smiley' volcano

Sometimes Mother Nature takes your breath away and even manages makes you smile. Incredibly, the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii looks like it is smiling while the lava inside breaks through the surface.

This week is the first time since 2013 that one of Kilauea's lava flows reached the Pacific Ocean.

This produces spectacular scenes as the red-hot lava cascades off the cliffs on Hawaii's Big Island.

Lava from the volcano, located in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, began erupting in late May and has been continuously moving on a six-mile journey towards the coast.

Authorities have said the lava poses no threat to any towns but have cautioned tourists to keep their distance.

Despite the warning, people have approached the flow to take pictures and watch the spectacle.

According to CNN, Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and people have even been starting boat tours to visit the spectacular sight.

Kanoa Jones has a permit to runs these tours and told CNN: "There's been people calling for a month now, trying to get in the boat."

Adding: "Sometimes, if the lava's flowing heavy when it hits the water it could explode, but usually it's really mellow."
