Ikea's flat-pack loving customers have been left scratching their heads, but it's not from having trouble assembling the furniture they've bought.

A computer glitch in UK stores last Thursday (21 July) meant that some customers may have been charged twice for the items they bought.

A whopping 102 customers were left out of pocket last week after realising that they had paid double.

Ikea has been urging customers who visited one of their 20 UK stores to see if they have also been affected by the glitch.

The Swedish company took full responsibility for the mishap and have apologised for any inconvenience that they may have caused.

They have also agreed to refund the money that was mistakenly taken.

Donna Moore, a spokesman for Ikea UK, apologised and said those affected should call 020 3645 0000, the Independent reports.

Moore added: "We are actively working with the payment service provider to rectify these transactions as quickly as possible so that those affected will have the duplicate payments released back to them by their banks."

James Walker, founder of free complaints resolution service Resolver, told Mirror Money: "If you are overcharged you are entitled to your money back."

He advises: "Highlight the issue with them as soon as you notice it - they are obliged to take immediate action."
