At the age of 15 most teenagers are probably enjoying the start of their summer holidays and enjoying the fact they won't be due back in school until September now.

But that's not quite was Arminder Singh Dhillon has been up to, this week he was the youngest ever contestant to secure financial backing from the fearsome Dragon's Den.

Arminder's invention, the Boot Buddy, is a double-ended device designed to clean muddy boots using a scraper and brush system, which also releases soapy water.

When it came to facing the Dragons Arminder couldn't do it all by himself, so he took his mother, Rashpal, and brother, Gaz, along with him to help out with the financial side of the bargain.

The Dhillon team were requesting £60,000 in return for 10% equity in the Boot Buddy company.

The family went to the extent of sending Arminder out of the room when it came to the nitty gritty, Rashpal explained why, saying: "We didn't want to put the Dragons in the position where they couldn't grill the business side, because it is a business show."

Arminder was able to come up with the prototype thanks to help from his parents who put forward the money to create it.

The 15-year-old, from Battersea in London, came up with the idea when looking at the tools he usually used to clean his boots: a toothbrush, knife and water, Your Local Guardian reports.

The initial form of the product was then created using a 3D printer, Arminder said: "It's amazing to go from a drawing on a piece of paper to having boxes of the product in front of you. It's an indescribable experience."

Speaking to the Wandsworth Guardian about his TV debut Arminder said: "Stepping in to the Dragon's Den was definitely daunting but I'd rehearsed my pitch thoroughly and I had my mother and brother by my side for support so I wasn't too nervous."

Speaking on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Monday, Dragon Touker Suleyman said: "The moment they walked into the den I wanted it."

In the end it was a combination of Dragons that fulfilled Arminder's dream with Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman and Peter Jones investing £20,000 for a 10% share of the business.

So, with predictions saying he might make his first million before he even turns 16, what will this ingenious young entrepreneur do with his money?

It's family first for Arminder who said: "I would give the quarter of a million back to my mum and dad first, then I'd buy dad a nice car."

The Boot Buddy currently retails for £14.99 and you can order one online here.
