You can now buy an island on the Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most beautiful places on Earth - it can even be seen from space!

So, who wouldn't want to have a place of their own there?

This ocean dream could be about to become your reality, but it won't come cheap.

Keswick Island on the Reef is for sale. The island is known for its pristine, sparkling beaches as well as of course, the reef and the wildlife that comes along with it.

But there is one small sticking point... the price. This piece of paradise could be all yours, but only if you have a spare $23 million.

Development deals have already begun in the hopes of putting a resort on the island with 1,000 properties to house 3,000 people.

This won't be easy work however as it's estimated the project take need $100 million to complete.

But, the benefit of all the hard work and money is pretty clear when it's all finished and you can sit back and enjoy the island!

The Reef came under threat earlier this year when the region experienced higher than usual temperatures.

The heat took its toll on the beautiful coral that lies under the water, bleaching it of its striking colours.

The Australian government has since moved the Reef up to the highest level of emergency response.
