According to The Sun, she explained: "I was in the sea and the waves were crashing... the rip tide. I must have knocked myself out because I had a nose bleed and near enough a black eye and I sort of passed out.

"I remember thinking this is it I'm dead, but [Kieran] pulled me out. I didn't see any bright lights or anything."

The discussion occurred while talking about near death experiences, and Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews also revealed he's endured a similar situation to Katie.

He said he dislocated both shoulders in a boating accident, and, according to the Mirror, explained: "I started seeing a lot of colours and lights, probably because I was losing consciousness but it felt quite surreal. I thought that was it.

"I put both my shoulders back in to place myself. One snapped back in on its own, I couldn't swim or anything. It was a couple of years ago now. I always like to think my [late] brother Mike is watching over me."

Cape Verde is a 10-island archipelago situated off the west coast of Africa

With year-round sunshine, gorgeous sandy beaches and an abundance of water sports, it offers a superb setting for a beach holiday and is an excellent alternative to the Canary Islands and the Caribbean.

The diverse culture of Portuguese and African influences, along with unique music styles and varied landscapes provides more than just glorious beaches.

Sal is the most popular island, characterised by its striking, otherworldly landscape, colourful towns and long sandy strips. Boa Vista is the island of sand dunes, beaches that rival the Caribbean and low mountain ranges. Santo Antao is a hiker's paradise, with its contrasting landscapes of canyons, gorges and valleys, as well as a subtropical climate. And Santiago, the biggest of the Cape Verde islands, is replete with native wildlife, diving sites and lush hills for walkers.
