The shark presumably thought the drone was a seal or some kind of tasty snack, and can be seen coming out of nowhere and attacking at lightning speed.

It soon realises the metal drone is not going to fulfil its hunger and releases it before swimming off dissatisfied.

It's thought the footage was filmed off the southern coast of Australia, according to the Daily Mail.

The great white shark can be found in the coastal surface waters of all the major oceans.

Adult females can grow to a large size, sometimes up to 20ft.

The great white shark has no known natural predators other than the killer whale.

It is listed as vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

According to Wikipedia, the great white is ranked first in having the most recorded attacks on humans.
