Soa Noi was rescued by Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand.

She was more than 60 years old, and spent her life giving rides to tourists.

Her body was weak, and even though she was safe and no longer working, she kept collapsing.

The sanctuary did everything it could to keep her comfortable in her final days.

Her friend Boon Thong was also very concerned. The two animals met at the sanctuary and bonded instantly.

In an amazing display of friendship and compassion, Boon Thong sayed by Sao Noi's side.

Sao Noi died surrounded by love and family.
