Serena Williams to play third match in three days at Wimbledon

Serena Williams will return to Centre Court on Tuesday, a day after she threatened to "sue" officials if she injured herself following a heavy fall on a rain-dampened surface.

The world number one will be in quarter-finals action against Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in what will be her third match in as many days.

Her older sister Venus has also reached the quarter-finals and at 36 is the oldest player in the women's singles at Wimbledon for more than two decades.

She will play Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan, who is ranked outside the top 100.

Elsewhere, Angelique Kerber takes on fifth seed Simona Halep on Centre Court.

Kerber, who won the Australian Open earlier this year, has only beaten Halep once in four meetings.

Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova is also in action against Russian Elena Vesnina in the quarter-finals, but may be forgiven if she is a little distracted.

The 27-year-old is due to get married on Saturday - the day of the women's singles final - at home in Bratislava, booking the date because she did not expect to get so far in the tournament.

But she said that if she beats Vesnina she will postpone the wedding for a week.

Andy Murray will also be out practising a day after dismantling Australian Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round.

Murray faces Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the last eight on Wednesday.
