When it comes to booking a holiday, we all want to find the best deals for our money and budget airlines and discount packages can be really helpful when trying to keep costs down.

But what about the money you fork out when you're actually there? Buying food and drinks while you're away can really stack up if you're not staying in an all inclusive resort.

So, how do you get around these pricey hurdles? Well, recent research shows that more than a few Brits aren't too proud to nab a little extra food from the breakfast buffet to save for later.

Holiday specialists Kenwood Travel spoke to 1,000 British holidaymakers to find out how they cut costs on holiday and 31% of participants admitted to taking extra food from breakfast to avoid buying lunch.

That's not all, 36% of parents said they worried about the cost of feeding their families while on holiday and 42% of participants even claimed to bring food from home to reduce costs.

Instead of taking food with you for later in the day, some holidaymakers admitted to encouraging their families to fill up at breakfast time so they won't be hungry by the time lunch comes around.

While staying in a hotel when everything is included can save you money, you can also end up forking out a fortune if you're having to pay for meals every time.

This can be the benefit of staying in a rented villa where you have your own cooking facilities and the ability to pick and choose what you eat and how much you spend.
