Cluedo has killed off Mrs White for a new mysterious character
It's been a week of shock exits but no-one could have seen this one coming - Mrs White is being replaced in the classic board game Cluedo.
As the country comes to grips with the post-Brexit fall-out that has seen the political careers of David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage take a turn, Mrs White has become the first Cluedo character to get the boot since 1949.
The long-time housekeeper of Tudor Mansion is being replaced by Dr Orchid ..and, of course, she has a mysterious back story to suit the game.
She was privately educated in Switzerland "until her expulsion following a near-fatal daffodil poisoning incident". Dr Orchid, who gained a PhD in plant toxicology, was then home-schooled by the character she is replacing. Poor old Mrs White!
The new character is also the adoptive daughter of Samuel Black, who owns the mansion where events unfold.
Craig Wilkins, marketing director for Cluedo's owners Hasbro in the UK & Ireland, said: "It was a difficult decision to say goodbye to Mrs White, but after 70 years of suspicious activity we decided that one of the characters had to go.
"Dr Orchid is a brilliant new character with a rich back story and links to the Black fortune. We're sure families across the UK, Ireland and the world will continue to create thrilling murder mysteries with all six suspects inside of the iconic Tudor Mansion."
The game's six characters are Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs Peacock, the Reverend Green, Colonel Mustard and the new Dr Orchid. All the characters have been revamped in recent years, except Colonel Mustard.
Cluedo involves finding out who killed whom, where, and with what implement. The murder weapons are a candlestick, lead pipe, revolver, dagger, rope and spanner.
