Warning over rogue batch of ecstasy tablets amid Isle of Wight incidents
Police have issued a warning about a rogue batch of ecstasy tablets circulating after at least four young men needed hospital treatment.
The tablets made people aggressive, frightened, act drunk and lose consciousness. One of the four men, who are aged in their late teens or early 20s, is seriously ill.
It is believed three people who fell ill bought the tablets inside a Yates bar in the High Street, Newport on the Isle of Wight on Friday or Saturday.
Hampshire Constabulary warned that the tablets could prove fatal and they urged people who have bought ecstasy recently not to take them.
Police said anyone who hands them ecstasy to be tested and disposed of to prevent harm to others will not be prosecuted for possession of drugs.
A police spokesman said Yates was working closely with officers. An 18-year-old man has been arrested as part of the inquiry.
