Wales midfielder Joe Ledley postpones wedding after Euro 2016 surprise success

The unexpected advancement of Wales at Euro 2016 has forced one of the team to postpone his wedding.

Midfielder Joe Ledley, 29, has to put back his nuptials after the team defied expectation and advanced to the final four of the tournament in France.

He was due to marry Ruby May Ridgeway on Saturday July 9, but teammate Gareth Bale told reporters the big day would have to be rearranged.

Bale said: "He's obviously booked it a long time ago, before qualifying. These things do happen to pop up. The boys are fully focused on the task in hand and I'm sure they'll re-organise stuff."

Wales won 3-1 against Belgium in Lille last Friday to set up a semi-final clash against Portugal on Wednesday. Their success has also inconvenienced defender Chris Gunter, who is set to miss his brother's wedding in Mexico on Thursday.

The last time Wales qualified for a major tournament was in 1958, when they reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out by Brazil.
