Rylan Clark-Neal 'really happy' about making This Morning history with his husband
Rylan Clark-Neal says he is "really happy" that he and husband Dan Neal will be first gay couple to present ITV's This Morning.
Speaking on the flagship daytime show, the 27-year-old said his husband was "really alright" about the prospect.
"It's me that's like, 'We can't do this!'" Rylan said.
He added: "It's been a sly little secret, but we came in not long ago and did a little fake show, if you like. Apart from he crashed the weather link, other than that he did really well."
Rylan and his husband will stand in for regular anchor husband and wife team Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on July 8.
Broadcasters Eamonn, of Sky News, and Loose Women co-host Ruth will be on holiday.
Rylan told This Morning's Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that he was reluctant to make a fuss about the milestone.
"We're just two people coming in to present the show and we're really, really happy we've got the opportunity," he said.
Formerly a contestant on The X Factor, since winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, Rylan has forged a successful career as a presenter.
He is the face of Big Brother's Channel 5 sister show Big Brother's Bit On The Side and he also presents the showbiz segment on This Morning.
Rylan met his husband when the former policeman was a Big Brother housemate in 2013. They married two years later.
The duo interviewed Christopher Cramp for This Morning's 10th anniversary celebration of the Civil Partnership Act.
Shortly after it became law in 2005, Christopher and his late partner were the first couple to be legally joined.
Guests at Rylan's 2015 wedding included his Big Brother colleague Emma Willis, her husband Matt Willis and Loose Women's Katie Price.
