It's officially summer now - although you'd be forgiven for failing to spot it. Don't get fooled into a false sense of security, because long before the rain dries up, it'll suddenly be the holiday season, and you'll need to have prepared for the beach, found entertainments for the family, and stocked up for the holidays. If you leave it all to the last minute, it could be horribly expensive. Fortunately, we have some freebies to help.

Apple Summer Camps for Kids
The users of HotUKdeals.com have discovered that Apple is running three-day camps for children aged 8-12 at its stores around the country. You can choose whether you want them to learn to code their own games and programme robots, create movies, or build their own interactive story. Then just sign them up (you'll need to be quick), and they'll even get a free t-shirt once they've taken part. The camps aren't intended as childcare, and only run for 90 minutes a day, but are a great way to break up the boredom for free.

Free swim safe lessons
The RNLI is running Swim Safe lessons over the summer, for children aged 7-14. These are 30 minute lessons at beaches and lakes across the country, where lifeguards and swimming teachers will help explain what you need to do to be safe in the water this summer. You can find your nearest session and sign up on the website. If you're ever planning to take the kids to the water, then this could be the most important freebie you ever take advantage of.

Free Palmers Cocoa Butter
No matter how much or how little skin you're expecting to show on the beach, it might be a nice idea for it to start the summer season in reasonably healthy condition. Cocoa Butter is a great start, and thanks to Quidco you can get yours for free. All you have to do is sign up to Quidco, buy the cocoa butter in any branch of Tesco, Morrisons or Sainsbury's, take a photo of the receipt showing all the vital details, and upload it to the website or the app for up to £5.10 cash back. There are only 3,000 available, so you'll need to be quick, but the offer starts today (and finishes on Sunday) so you should have a chance to buy yours before they run out.

Free summer car check
If any part of your holiday involves driving, then it's worth getting your car checked out before you head off. At the moment, Halfords is offering a free summer car check - of everything from the battery and light bulbs to windscreen wipers, oil levels, screen wash levels and the air conditioning. They say it's worth around £15 (including a screen wash top up), and it may offer some peace of mind that you won't end up standing by the side of the road instead of enjoying your break.

Free baby wipes
If you have a baby, then these are handy all year round for obvious reasons. If you don't, then in the summer you will suddenly discover a new solution for sticky hands, overheated children and ice-cream-related spillages. If you sign up to Topcashback.co.uk you can get £11 worth of Pampers Wipes for free. Just sign up, find the deal, buy a 12-pack multipack through the website, and you'll get up to £11 back in your account (which will usually cover the cost).
