James Corden used to struggle to get jobs because of his appearance
James Corden has told how his looks used to get in the way of him landing work.
The English actor and comedian is now a big name - and even hosts The Late Late Show across the pond - but he told The Sunday People it wasn't always that way.
"Decisions when I started were only made on the way I looked," said the 37-year-old.
"They were like 'You look like this, so you will work your way to playing a bubbly judge or something'."
James said he used to go to London to audition twice a month, but wouldn't get the jobs and that it was "demoralising" at the time.
He said: "The only thing that separates an amateur and a professional is rejection, when you are either told you are too fat or your ears are too big."
Things started to change in 2007 when James rose to fame co-starring in his own series, Gavin And Stacey. Then in 2014 he also cracked America when it was announced he was to succeed Craig Ferguson as host of late night talk programme The Late Late Show.
