Man arrested on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences

A man has been arrested on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences.

Counter terrorism officers held the man, 31, at a property in Margate, Kent, on Thursday, in a "pre-planned and intelligence-led" operation.

Officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit were searching the property, aided by colleagues from Kent Police.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said there was no immediate threat to public safety following the arrest, under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
