Dolly Parton and her husband of 50 years renew their wedding vows
Dolly Parton and Carl Dean have proven that love really can last in showbiz - renewing their wedding vows after 50 years of marriage.
The couple are still going strong half a century on.
They tied the knot on May 30 1966, and for their Golden Anniversary they celebrated with a vow renewal ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dolly, 70, who recently kicked off her Pure & Simple Tour, told Rolling Stone: "How many people can say they've been married 50 years? We've made it this long, we need to do it again."
Speaking ahead of her big day, she said: "My dress is kind of off-white. I've always wanted a big beautiful dress, the whole thing. We're doing it here in Nashville."
Former businessman Carl, 73, who ran an asphalt-laying company, has shunned the limelight despite his marriage to global music star Dolly.
But in a rare interview, he has said of the first time he saw Dolly: "My first thought was I'm gonna marry that girl. My second thought was, Lord she's good lookin'. And that was the day my life began.
"I wouldn't trade the last 50 years for nothing on this earth."
The two met outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat in Nasville on Dolly's first day in the city, and got married two years later.
Their first wedding was a simple, private ceremony with only Dolly's mother, the preacher and his wife in attendance.
Dolly said: "If I had it to do all over, I'd do it all over again, and we did.
"I'm dragging him kicking and screaming into the next 50 years. Wish us luck."
Dolly and Carl will be auctioning off photos from their 2016 ceremony, with proceeds going to children's charities.
From Here To The Moon And Back, Dolly's 2014 song, is also written for Carl: "Who else in this world will love you like that? / Love everlasting, I promise you that / From here to the moon and back".
