Pensioner drives five miles the wrong way down M60



A man in his 80s is in hospital after driving the wrong way down the M60 in Manchester for five miles.

The pensioner was in a red Ford Fiesta and was spotted heading anti-clockwise in the right hand lane between junctions 3 at Cheadle and 9 at Trafford Park at 6.10pm on Monday 3 May.

Two ambulances were sent to the scene after he crashed into two other vehicles.

Luckily, nobody was seriously injured in the incident.

One onlooker, Nathan Fearn, managed to capture images of the scene and uploaded them to his Twitter page.


According to Key103, a statement from Greater Manchester Police read: "Police received a number of reports that a red Ford Fiesta was seen driving anti-clockwise in the right hand lane between junctions 3 and 9.

"A few minutes later the vehicle was involved in a collision with two other vehicles. The carriageway was closed and re-opened about 8pm."

The spokesman added that the man was taken to hospital and that inquiries are ongoing.

ITV News reports that police received over 20 calls from fellow motorists concerned about what was happening.
