British tourist in hospital after Magaluf hotel balcony fall

A young British tourist is in a serious condition after falling from a hotel balcony in Magaluf.

Andrew Rhys Philips, 25, fell from the first floor balcony of the TRH Magaluf Hotel and was taken to hospital in Palma.

The Daily Star reports that it is thought he had been drinking before the fall, which occurred at around 8pm on Wednesday evening.

He is believed to have landed on his head on a grassy area and, while is condition was said to be serious, it is believed it is not life-threatening.

The news comes as another British holidaymaker collapsed in a Magaluf street this week after allegedly downing 75 shots in a bar.

The Daily Mail reports that the man drank the 42 per cent proof Sambuca as a dare.

He then stumbled outside before collapsing in the street. He was reportedly out cold for around 15 minutes before an ambulance arrived, reports The Sun.

The incidents are the latest in a string of accidents involving British tourists in Magaluf.

In early May, a young British woman died in a hotel bath after a night out in Magaluf.

Paramedics were called to the scene at the TRH Torrenova hotel but were unable to revive her.

Last May, a British holidaymaker died in Magaluf after falling down 20 steps at a pub called Mulligans Bar.

Ian Frankland, 36, suffered a severe head injury and a heart attack after losing his balance on the steps that lead to the pub's toilets.
