A tourist managed to film the amazing moment three lions started licking water off her tent.

France Lubbe and her husband were inside the tent at the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in Botswana when the animals approached for an opportunistic drink.

The front flap of the tent was open, leaving just the gauze between the big cats and the tourists, reports news.com.au.

Despite that, a cool, calm and collected Francie managed to film the incredible scene and share it on Facebook.

The Sun reports that Francie said: "What a privilege.

"It rained during the night and three lionesses are licking the water from the tent. It was special."

Famous big cat conservationists Dereck and Beverley Joubert praised the way Francie handled the situation on their Facebook page, saying that their "appreciation of the absolute privilege is fantastic".

Another impressed user wrote: "Francie, I really hope you were approached by TV producers to use this footage in a documentary... One because I think you need to be rewarded for sharing this with all nature lovers and two for your bravery.

"We are leaving tomorrow from Cape Town to Kruger for 3 weeks... Cannot wait... Kruger never failed us in 9 years to experience amazing sightings. But NEVER have I had to stare the lions in the eye through my tent netting.

"Thank goodness we are going in our caravan this year... Tenting will never be the same."
