Mark Ellwood from Conde Nast has put together a list of his tried-and-tested techniques that will help you snooze in the skies.

They are:

1. Meditation Apps

Make use of meditation apps like Calm or Headspace and listen to that for a few minutes and it will put you in the perfect mindset.

2. Lavender oil

Add a little of the oil to your wrists and temples and you'll hopefully find that you sleep deeper and amazingly it may even lower your blood pressure.

3. Skip the booze

It may be useful for calming your pre-flight jitters but being hydrated means you will fall asleep more easily and you'll wake up with more energy. So forgo the cocktail in the airport lounge and stick to the water instead!
