Naked sleepwalker returned to Manchester hotel by police

A naked sleepwalker had to be returned to his hotel in Manchester by police.

The hotel guest had gone for a sleepwalk in the buff at around 4am on Sunday morning and approached a taxi driver on Chorlton Street.

The cabbie promptly called police, who arrived on the scene to find the man still wandering around in his birthday suit.

Officers covered the sleepwalker with their jackets and accompanied him back to the hotel.


According to the BBC, Greater Manchester Police said it was a "genuine case of sleepwalking", and also tweeted about the incident, stating they were satisfied it "was proper somnambulism, not a dare".

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, a police source added: "The person involved was grateful to the officers for their help, saw a funny side to what had happened, and even asked for a selfie with the officers (when they were fully clothed) as a memento of their unusual encounter with GMP."
