Inquest for British victim of Paris attacks to begin
An inquest hearing into the death of a Briton killed in the Paris attacks will begin today.
Nick Alexander, 35, from Colchester, was in the Bataclan theatre when gunmen stormed the building midway through a rock concert on November 13, killing 89 people.
He had been selling merchandise for the US rock band Eagles of Death Metal, who were on stage at the time and survived the massacre.
Frontman Jesse Hughes broke down during an interview shortly after the attack, as he described how Mr Alexander did not call for help after being shot "because he didn't want anyone else to get hurt".
Mr Alexander's parents, Barry and Sheelagh Alexander, paid tribute to him soon after his death, saying: "Words cannot express the sadness we feel at the loss of our precious Nick."
The concert hall was among several public places in the French capital, including the Stade de France, cafes and restaurants, which were targeted by a group of Islamic State militants, who killed 130 people in total and left hundreds injured.
In November, the inquest into Mr Alexander's death was opened and adjourned in Chelmsford and coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray heard that he died from gunshot wounds to his stomach and chest.
The inquest hearing is listed for two days at Chelmsford Coroner's Court.
