Danniella Westbrook slams EastEnders 'fired' claims
Danniella Westbrook has hit back at claims she was "fired" from EastEnders.
The actress recently returned to reprise her role as Samantha Mitchell on the popular BBC soap.
She reacted to newspaper reports alleging she was "sacked or axed", telling Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain that she was only ever contracted to return to Albert Square for two weeks.
She said: "I was only contracted to do two weeks and I did exactly my contract."
Commenting on reports about her allegedly being late for work repeatedly, she said she had only been late once - after her car broke down on the M25.
The 42-year-old also recently spoke about trying for a baby with her 24-year-old boyfriend George Arnold, and said she was not bothered by gossip about their age gap.
She made another startling revelation about her next move, telling Morgan and Reid that while she would like to have stayed on longer at EastEnders, her dream was to land a part in rival soap Emmerdale.
She said: "I'd love to be in Emmerdale, I'm a country girl. I'd quite like to go and do something new and be a different character."
The soap will also say goodbye to stalwart Peggy Mitchell, as Dame Barbara Windsor appears on the show for the final time.
