Three more councillors suspended by Labour amid anti-Semitism claims

Updated

Labour chiefs have refused to comment on a fresh bout of suspensions by the party amid allegations of anti-Semitism.

A Labour spokesman declined to be drawn on whether news that three more members have been suspended pending investigations would have an impact on the party's showing in crunch elections across Britain this week.

Kent activist and South Thanet vice-chair Jackie Walker, who is also a member of the pro-Jeremy Corbyn Momentum movement, is among those suspended.

The Jewish Chronicle said it had highlighted Ms Walker's social media comments to Labour, and the newspaper reported a new poll shows just 8.5% of British Jews now back the party.

Two other members, Newport councillor Miqdad Al-Nuaimi and Terry Kelly, who sits on Renfrewshire Council, have also been suspended from Labour pending investigations, a party spokeswoman said.
