The moment a motorist clipped a wall sending his car somersaulting 15ft through the air in Shropshire has been caught on CCTV.

The horrifying crash happened on the A464 Upton crossroads near Shifnal, Shropshire, a well known accident blackspot.

The driver and the passenger both survived, but the male passenger had to be cut from the wreckage by firefighters and suffered a broken pelvis.

Temporary traffic lights have since been installed at the dangerous crossroads.

Business owner Tony Honicke, 50, lives near the junction and CCTV cameras at his company Trio Construction Services captured the accident, report the Express.

According to the Mirror, he said: "We've been here just about four years now and there must have been six or eight crashes.

"They are getting worse and worse.

"They come out of Shifnal, heading towards Wolverhampton, there's a bend and a massive straight. They go flying up there.

"I would like the lights to stay up."

According to the Daily Mail, he added: "I know it must be a pain for people to see lights there but it's nice for them to understand why they are there.

"If you imagine not knowing whether a car is going to come through your wall, it's scary."

"Cars have crashed into the barn before and we've had one upside down on the junction.

"Apparently there were two fatalities 15 or 20 years ago."

The temporary traffic lights are expected to remain at the junction for between six to 12 months while Shropshire Council's consultants Mouchel design a safety solution for the notorious blackspot.
