Ian Henry Pervez, who was in his 20s, was a ramp worker with Air Canada. He was crushed when the vehicle he was operating rolled over.

According to City News, Toronto Airport Workers' Council posted their condolences on Facebook on Saturday morning.

The post read: "Sending our love and deepest condolences to the family of Ian Henry Pervez. A young life taken too soon.

"Today we mourn the loss of our fallen brother, tomorrow we must all work together towards creating a safer workplace."

The Ministry of Labour is investigating.

In May last year, a luggage driver for Southwest Airlines was killed in a crash while working at Chicago's Midway International Airport.

Michael Yates, 52, was driving the vehicle when it crashed into another service vehicle, sending him out of the car onto the tarmac.

Back in December, an airport worker was killed in a horrifying incident that saw him sucked into a plane's engine.

The Air India ground crew member died instantly when he was sucked into the aircraft's engine at Mumbai Airport.
