Chef James Martin lands This Morning guest host role

Updated

Former Saturday Kitchen host James Martin is set to make the move from the BBC to join ITV's This Morning.

The popular chef will step into Eamonn Holmes' shoes next Friday to guest-host for the day alongside Ruth Langsford.

Martin said: "I am really excited to be part of a show that has been a staple for so many people. It will be a real pleasure."

A source close to the show added: "James is very much looking forward to being part of ITV daytime and as well as guest hosting the show, he also hopes to show viewers some of his cooking skills in the studio eight kitchen too.

"If viewers approve of the move then I'm sure bosses will be keen for him to join the This Morning family for items across summer."

British chef and television presenter Martin stepped down from Saturday Kitchen a month ago after 10 years at the helm of the show.

Announcing his departure in February, he said: ''I am looking forward to getting stuck into my new projects and to lots of lie-ins on a Saturday morning.''

The cookery and car fanatic had presented the show since 2006.
