Would you dare get in the tallest outdoor elevator in the world? Hmmm, we're not so sure.

The Bailong Elevator, also known as the Hundred Dragons Elevator, carries tourists 1,070ft (330m) up the side of a massive sandstone column in a mountain range in China's Hunan province. Feeling queasy yet?

Riding the glass lift, which carries up to 50 people at a time or 1,380 an hour, offers jaw-dropping, not to say vertiginous, views all the way down to the bottom of the rocky mountain range in the Wulingyuan area of Zhangijiajie.

Work began on the lift, which cost 120m yuan, in 1999 and finished in 2002.

Bailong Elevator has set three Guinness world Records: World's tallest full-exposure outdoor elevator; world's tallest double-deck sightseeing elevator; the and world's fastest passenger traffic elevator with biggest carrying capacity.

However, due to the potential harm caused to the surrounding landscape, its future remains uncertain.

The country, it seems, are a nation of adrenaline-seekers. Not only does China have the world's tallest outdoor elevator, it also boasts the world's longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge.

The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge in the Pingjiang county is 1,230ft long and 984ft high.

And it's even scarier than the elevator. Maybe.
